Faces—and Fates—of the Jobless

Although some employers report trouble finding workers, about 4.4 million Americans have been looking for jobs for at least a year—and that doesn’t include the ones who have given up. Here are some of their stories.

Bank Bail Outs

Small business’s are being crushed in many communities because the gov elected to bail out the big incompetent banks and let the smaller regional banks fail. The FDIC has now taken 100 banks into receivership and there are 350 more banks at risk.  No federal bailout for the small business’s that lost their access to credit and had to close because their banks weren’t “too big to fail”  But don’t worry, the stimulus plan will create temporary jobs to replace the multitude  of jobs being lost as banks close and the business’s lose credit.  Oh wait they are using tax payer dollars to stimulate that job creation. My guess is the stim plan will create fewer jobs than are being lost because of the bank closings. Would have been a lot easier, cheaper, and prevented more job loss’s to just use some of the TARP or Stimulus money to help out the smaller banks. Wonder why they didn’t think of that?

Health Care Reform

It is very easy to talk about health care these days…Someone has even read the latest 1500 or so pages of congressional effort. Today, 22 October 2009, the worlds fastest reader, at 30,000 words a minute ,read the entire package while on the air with Neil Cavuto…I didn’t listen long enough to see how he interpreted it….I have my own interpretation.  Healthcare Reform is  designed to get a public option, or a trigger for a public option. That will lead to government run healthcare. Period. Any questions? Comments?

Small Business

It used to be that small business was considered the job creator and economic engine of our economy. It seems to me that small business is now the “forgotten man”. Has this Congress done anything to support small business?
